Welcome to the International School Almere  

A personal approach in global education

The International School Almere is a non-denominational, English language, school for students between the ages 11 to 16. It wishes to join the IB World School community of state, private, national and international schools from every part of the world. These schools share a common bond – a commitment to high-quality, challenging international education that this school believes is important for our students.

The school was founded in 2002, as a result of the close co-operation between the International School ´Alberdink Thijm´ Hilversum, and a Dutch grammar school ´Het Baken´ Almere.

Our classes are taught in a stimulating academic environment and due to the small class sizes we are able to give the students more individual attention. This school has become a Candidate school and aspires to be an IB World School that offers the Middle Years Programme and in future the Diploma Programme as well. This means that it is engaged in the authorization process, under the guidance of the IBO, which may take two or more years. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (commonly known as ‘the IB’).

If the outcome is positive, the school will be authorized to offer the programme and attain the status of IB World School.
