Welcome to the ISH Primary School

The International School Hilversum ‘Alberdingk Thijm’ provides the opportunity for primary and secondary children to all learn within the same building. This creates a supportive, embracing, community environment that benefits everyone.

The International School Hilversum is one of only two schools in the Netherlands that provides an accredited International Baccalaureate programme throughout the whole school, starting with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children from the ages of 4 to 10.

We maintain a small Primary Department in order to give personal attention to every child’s development and learning needs. We provide a safe, caring and friendly environment in which all adults know the children well. The children are in combined classrooms meaning that teachers can differentiate when it is appropriate.

The I-pad has landed!

Since February 1st the PYP started with the iPad project. Goal of the project is to look at how the iPad can be integrated in the primary curriculum and can be of added value in the daily school process. The project focus is on grades 1-3, but the iPad has already been seen in other classrooms, such as kindergarten. So far the school counts seven iPads loaded with more than a 100 usable applications. It seems that the iPad is here to stay.
