Careers Grade 9 and 10

  • Currently run through student services.
  • Ms. Isaac has overall responsibility for careers development throughout the school, including university applications.
  • Towards the end of grade 9, the careers dept. joins the discussions and student / parent information sessions regarding the choices and profiles students have to make at the end of this year.
  • They can advise as to subjects needed to enter further education in a given subject.
  • In year 10, the year begins with ISCO (Futurewise) testing. This is a series of psychometric tests designed to assess the student in a number of ways and attempts to stimulate discussion and help focus the student in terms of his or her future.
  • The students all receive feedback in small groups from the visiting consultant.
  • Later in Year 10 the Careers department helps with decision-making and package building for the Diploma Programme. We try to help with students who are leaving the school, providing transcripts, organising references and giving some advice as to what options are available to the student.
  • It is important for parents to plan for this eventuality. If no DP then what?
  • Students can make an appointment at ANY time during the 9th or 10th grade to talk over their plans or ask questions.
  • Parents can e-mail Ms. Isaac (n.isaac@atscholen.nl) or phone student services +31(0)35-6729927 with their questions.
  • It is also our intention every two years to hold a “Beroepenavond” for grades 9 and above. Here parents and other guests hold informal sessions with small groups of interested students to discuss and describe various aspects of their work.
  • Trips to selected open days are offered to the students and guest speakers are invited to the school.
